Nestbuilding

Every June, for the past few years, House-Sparrows (I think) build a nest behind the fire-alarm in my apartment-house carport. After all that work, the nest is abandoned a couple of weeks later. No eggs, no babies. Not a good spot for a nest in the first place. Later in the year the bell gets cleaned, safety is restored, but love's labor has been lost.

I noticed some activity today, so I stood there, motionless, for about twenty minutes. Finally my wait was rewarded! Now I wonder what the outcome will be this year.
