After several years of running, and later hiking, on the Bear Valley Trail in Point Reyes, today was the first time I've ever encountered a chipmunk. I know that my picture is less than perfect. My excuse is that it was still a little dark and I didn't dare getting too close to the little critter.
Meanwhile resident super-sleuth Margie, positively identified yesterday's thistle as a Cirsium. Boy, that woman is good!
