Statue of Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar, known as El Cid Campeador (the lord-master of military arts), by sculptor Anna Hyatt Huntington (1876 - 1973). The statue is located to your right as you approach the Palace of the Legion of Honor museum in San Francisco. Facing it, on the left, is a statue of Joan of Arc, also on horseback and also by Huntington.
I took the picture on a very foggy morning, a couple of weeks ago. Note the three crows on the flagpole.
